BiH Presidency members meet with Prime Minister of Turkey Binyali Yildirim

SARAJEVO, March 29 (FENA) - The BiH Presidency Chairman Bakir Izetbegović and a member of the Presidency Mladen Ivanić met today with Turkish Prime Minister Binyali Yildirim and talked about bilateral cooperation between BiH and Turkey, as well as the activities of BiH in relation to European integration process, where Turkish side expressed its full support.

Talking about the overall scope of cooperation between the two countries, it was said that economic cooperation has recorded a steady increase in trade with good import-export ratio to the benefit of BiH. It was pointed out that Turkey is among the most important investors in BiH and that BiH hopes and expects that this trend will continue.

The two sides also highlighted the importance of the work of Turkish Development Agency TIKA in BiH, which currently runs 850 projects in the country in various segments that contribute to the development of BiH.

Also, the Presidency members expressed gratitude to Turkey for the renovation of the Cultural Center in Trebinje, a project worth one million euros, as well as for the continued interest in investing in important projects in the entire BiH.

Turkish Prime Minister conveyed the interest of potential investors for the sectors of energy, infrastructure, agriculture, timber industry and tourism, and pointed out that Turkey at the moment has more than 50 investors and business people in BiH whose investments exceed 300 million dollars.

The meeting also focused on infrastructural linking of Sarajevo and Belgrade and the activities that are being carried out on the project of building the Sarajevo - Belgrade motorway.

Turkey is interested in intensifying cooperation with the countries of the Western Balkans, and in this context, stressed the importance of finding modalities for the construction of this important infrastructure project, which would have a long-term, regional significance.

Another topic of the meeting was the planned official visit of the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Bosnia and Herzegovina, when it is expected for the two countries to sign several bilateral agreements, and which will significantly contribute to the further improvement of very good bilateral relations between BiH and the Republic of Turkey.

On behalf of the BiH Presidency member Dragan Čović, the meeting was attended by his advisor Igor Planinić.
