SARAJEVO, April 3 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dragan Čović met with Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the United States of America (USA) for European and Eurasian Affairs Matthew Palmer and US Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack with whom he discussed reforms and BiH's path towards the European Union and NATO.
Mr. Čović informed his collocutors about the political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a focus on Euro-Atlantic integration processes.
They also discussed amendments to the Election Law in accordance with the decisions of the BiH Constitutional Court and the European Court of Human Rights in order to facilitate legitimate democratic elections and undisturbed functioning of the governing institutions at all levels.
They stressed the necessity of resolving this issue in the remaining short period of time before the general elections in BiH, with minimal changes to the Election Law that would meet constitutional and international standards, and of improving the atmosphere for further reform efforts in BiH.
At the end of the meeting, BiH Presidency member Čović welcomed the intensified interest of the US in BiH and full support for the preservation of its stability on the foundations of the Dayton Peace Agreement and the principles of equality and equality contained therein, the BiH Presidency PR Department stated.
