SARAJEVO, April 5 (FENA) – Trebević Cable Car, one of the symbols of the city of Sarajevo, will take citizens and guests of Sarajevo to Trebević once again after more than 20 years.

Exercise "Evacuation from Sarajevo Cable Car" will be conducted today to check the safety of the cable car, one day before its official release.

It will be an opportunity to show readiness of participants in all situations in case of possible failures.

Out of 50 participants in this exercise, 20 are from the FBiH Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ), and the rest are from JP “Sarajevo”, Climbing Team of Federal Police Administration, members of Support Unit of Sarajevo Canton MoI and “Trebević” GSS (Mountain Rescue Service), FUCZ stated.

In case there is need for additional assistance there will also be firefighters, SC medical emergency team and members of Stari Grad municipality police station.

Director of FUCZ Fahrudin Solak told FENA this is an opportunity to see how to evacuate people in case of failure of the cable car.

"Chances of that are very slim, but we should definitely be ready to respond," said Solak.

Solak emphasized that Trebević Cable Car is firstly a symbol of the city of Sarajevo and added this city deserves it.

"This is very important to us. I hope the entire area of Trebević will come to life and maybe this cable car will help," said Solak.
