SARAJEVO, April 9 (FENA) - Delegation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly of Kuwait met today with members of the Collegiums of the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly and members of the BiH Friendship Group for Africa and the Middle East Countries.

Deputy Chairman of the BiH PA House of Peoples Safet Softić told reporters after the meeting that the guests were informed about the situation in BiH and that this was an opportunity to highlight the opportunities for the good relations of the two countries to be raised to a higher level.

“In conversation with our guests, we were told that there were great opportunities in tourism. In the last two years, about 25,000 tourists visited BiH,” said Mr. Softić, pointing out that there is also an airline connecting Sarajevo and Kuwait.

He noted that their guests from Kuwait also told them of certain problems regarding the property issues of foreign nationals in BiH. He assessed that this was a very important issue that is being solved at the moment.

“Our guests offered some models that would be possible as a solution in an aim to have the greatest possible investment of Kuwaiti citizens in BiH,” said Mr. Softić, adding that Kuwait is a great friend of BiH and one of its largest investors.

In his words, investments of the Kuwait Economic Development Fund are well-known, which already had an investment in the construction of Corridor Vc in the amount of some 30 million and an agreement for another 40 million euros for the Corridor Vc is in its signing phase.

Mr. Softić said that during the meeting they were told that the doors to all projects that would eventually be prepared and submitted to this Fund were fully open to the BiH side. He said that this was a great opportunity that BiH should use.

“As for open issues regarding property, it is known that Kuwaiti citizens do not need visas for BiH to stay up to 90 days and this is a great chance to increase tourism. But we jointly assessed that the most probable solution was to form a joint committee of the Government of the State of Kuwait and the BiH Council of Ministers, which is already in the procedure, which should remove the barriers that lie before of us,” Mr. Softić said.

He expressed the conviction that bilateral economic cooperation will in the coming period be even greater and more substantial than it has been so far.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly of Kuwait Waleed Al-Tabtabaie said that Kuwait supported BiH's entry into the European Union.

“We have the same emotions for all peoples in BiH. We want the investments coming from Kuwait, especially at the state level, to cover the entire territory of BiH. Our hand is outstretched for cooperation with everyone,” said Mr. Al-Tabtabaie.

He added that the number of tourists from Kuwait to BiH had increased several times over the last five years and that the desire for investing in BiH was constantly growing in Kuwait's economic sector.

“We would therefore like to make a request to the BiH Parliamentary Assembly and all levels of government to further facilitate the access of investors from Kuwait to BiH and to resolve the issue of property ownership in the shortest possible time,” said Mr. Al-Tabtabaie.

He reminded that there was a direct airline between Kuwait and BiH, adding that it will further strengthen relations in trade and tourism.

“We want products from BiH to be exported to Kuwait. We would also like the human staff to find jobs in Kuwait. Medical staff in BiH are very experienced and we would like them to share this experience with us. Also, we would like to benefit from the experience of the construction sector in BiH. We want to become twins with BiH. I cannot find words to explain how I feel when I am in BiH, I just feel so nice here,” Mr. Al-Tabtabaie said.

Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Group of the National Assembly of Kuwait Waleed Al-Tabtabaie is in an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
