FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, May 30 (FENA) – BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Crnadak met today on two separate occasions with German Ambassador to BiH Christiane Hohmann and Spanish Ambassador to BiH Juan Bosco Giménez Soriano.

Mr. Crnadak and Ms. Hohmann exchanged notes on the acceptance of technical cooperation projects between the BiH Council of Ministers and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany for 2013 and 2014.

For the implementation of development cooperation projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2013, the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany has made available 4.5 million euros for the program for local self-government and economic development and energy efficiency consultancy.

For 2014, the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany provided technical assistance in the amount of four million euros for the implementation of projects - programs for strengthening public institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, programs for local self-government and economic development and support for adult education.

These are technical cooperation agreements that are signed subsequently, due to the German internal procedure for approving funds in the budget. Technical cooperation projects with institutions and local communities in BiH have been carried out for many years by the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ). After the implementation of the projects, the exchange of notes confirms that the projects have been officially approved.

Mr. Crnadak today also received in a farewell visit the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Bosnia and Herzegovina Juan Bosco Giménez Soriano.

Mr. Crnadak stressed that bilateral relations between BiH and Spain were good and without open issues. He then thanked Mr. Soriano for everything he had done in order to strengthen good bilateral relations between the two countries during his work and stay in BiH, and especially thanked for the assistance and support of Spain in the field of European integrations in BiH. Mr. Crnadak wished Mr. Soriano luck and success in continuing his career.

Mr. Soriano thanked for the hospitality and good co-operation with BiH institutions and expressed hope that BiH would continue to make progress in the process of European integration. He informed his interlocutor about the political situation in Spain with a special focus on the events in Catalonia.

The collocutors agreed that BiH and the Kingdom of Spain, as European countries, should continue to work on preserving and improving friendly relations, which is the basis for further strengthening of cooperation and improvement of relations in all fields, in accordance with mutually expressed interests, the BiH MFA stated.
