SARAJEVO, May 31 (FENA) - The Federation of BiH Public Health Institute in cooperation with the association "Progressive Development of Organizations and Individuals PROI”, and with the partnership of non-governmental organizations, this year with a series of activities marked May 31 – World No Tobacco Day.
This year, the World Health Organization under the slogan "Smoking and Heart Disease,", focuses on the significance and consequences of heart disease caused by the consumption of tobacco products.
On this occasion, the festival "Smoke-free environment" was held at the Children's Square in Sarajevo, where experts and volunteers talked with citizens.
Organizers shared promotional materials to citizens, provided risk assessments of cardiovascular disease and tips for quitting smoking, and pointed to the importance of smoke-free environment and the risks to the health of the population due to cigarette consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke.
The "Smoke-free environment" initiative was launched within the framework of the project "Reducing Risk Factors for Health in BiH", supported by the Government of Switzerland and implemented by the World Bank in BiH.
