SARAJEVO, June 5 (FENA) - The BiH Council of Ministers, at the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, adopted at today's session the Bosnia and Herzegovina Strategy against Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) for the period 2018-2022.
It previously adopted the Information on the activities of the Working Group for its drafting involving representatives of BiH, entities and Brčko District of BiH, who gave their approval for its adoption.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs shall, within five months, in cooperation with all the institutions and agencies in BiH, whose representatives have participated in the creation of this strategy, submit an action plan for its implementation to the BiH Council of Ministers.
The strategy by which Bosnia and Herzegovina meets the earlier imposed international commitments will contribute to improving security in the country.
Strategic activities are aimed at preventing the procurement, production, transportation and use of WMD, dual and military goods from authoritarian regimes, criminal and terrorist groups and individuals, and strengthening the prevention system. Strategically, the readiness for a swift and efficient response to a possible crisis caused by the use of this weapon is increased, with the enhancement of institutional capacities and coordination mechanisms.
The BiH Council of Ministers, through the adoption of this strategy, is actively contributing to the efforts of the international community to prevent the spread of weapons of mass destruction and to strengthen international cooperation in this area, the BiHCoM stated.
