SARAJEVO, June 20 (FENA) - The BiH Presidency Chairman Bakir Izetbegović received today Head of the EU Delegation to BiH Lars Gunnar Wigemark.
The two officials exchanged views on the ongoing political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with a special emphasis on the continuing process reform and amendments to the electoral legislation.
Chairman Izetbegović pointed out that there was a willingness to accept a temporary solution proposed by the representatives of the international community for the amendments to the BiH Election Law, “but after HDZ BiH refused, we have missed this opportunity.”
That is why a bloc of parties in the FBiH Parliament was forced to create a solution that would overcome the crisis in the implementation of election results and the formation of executive power in the Federation of BiH.
Izetbegović stressed that the proposed solution for the establishment of the House of Peoples of the Parliament of the FBiH has taken into account the judgment of the Constitutional Court of BiH, but that it does not go against the Constitution of FBiH, and it should have been acceptable to all.
Wigemark informed Izetbegović about the report of the Joint Commission on Local Authorities, funded by the European Union.
The report analyzes the functioning of local authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and gives recommendations on the steps that need to be taken in order to get closer to the EU standards, stated the Public Relations Office of the Presidency of BiH.
