SARAJEVO, July 10 (FENA) – Exhibition of photographs and other documents which testify the magnitude of genocide committed in Srebrenica in July 1995, but also attempts of denial that such crime even took place in Europe in the 20th century, opened at Gazi Husrev-bey's Library in Sarajevo last night.

It is an exhibition by young author Hikmet Karčić "Genocide in Srebrenica – Eleven Lessons for the Future“, which shows the murder campaign and events after Serb forces committed genocide in Srebrenica enclave in 1995, even though it was declared the UN Protected Zone.

Main message is that crime must not remain unpunished, even though complete justice cannot be expected in this world, organizers stated.

Exhibition was opened by Raisu-l-ulama of the Islamic Community in BiH Husein ef. Kavazović, who said that we have a moral obligation to never forget what happened in Srebrenica.

"World is still not completely ready to learn from examples of genocide in Srebrenica. Serbia and Republika Srpska, great majority of Serb people, who are the most responsible for this evil, are still denying what happened. Not only that, they are also showing they support the crime by glorifying war criminals Radovan Karadžić and Ratko Mladić, who are the most responsible for the genocide.

While we are honoring the victims and paying respects to their families, we also see the face of Europe and the world which did not manage or did not want to protect the victims from criminals.

Despite it all, reconciliation remains being the fundamental goal of us genocide victims. However, reconciliation is achieved by path of truth and justice," said ef. Kavazovića.

Author Hikmet Karčić emphasized this educational exhibition presents genocide through historic, military and political aspect in 11 lessons. It was made based on evidence items of the Hague Tribunal and it also includes photographs by Muhamed Mujkić, Kristian Skeie, Jasmin Agović and other individuals.

Karčić added they plan to present the exhibition across Europe and the world.

Exhibition "Genocide in Srebrenica – Eleven Lessons for the Future“ was organized by the Administration for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora in cooperation with Gazi Husrev-bey's Library and Institute for Islamic Tradition of Bosniaks.
