Zvizdić: Of 160 terrorist attacks in Europe not a single one was linked to BiH

SARAJEVO, July 16 (FENA) - Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Zvizdić, said today in Sarajevo that the meetings that took place in London, Brussels and Sofia over the past ten days have been very important for BiH in political and economic terms.

These important meetings covered a number of topics, such as strengthening the development of the economy, regional cooperation and stability and security in the countries of the Western Balkans.

“Considering the Trieste Summit a year ago, BiH has been approved seven projects within the Berlin Process worth around one billion KM and all that in 12-month period,” Zvizdić added and called for accelerated work of those responsible for the implementation of these projects.

Four declarations were signed in London, on war crimes, missing persons, regional cooperation and the statement on the fight against corruption.

The summit in London was an opportunity, as Zvizdić said, to discuss security in the region, and reiterated that 46 people returned to BiH from foreign battlefields, 22 of them are being tried before court, and that the stories of alleged thousands are pure falsifying of facts.

“In the past 28 months there has not been a single departure to foreign battlefields from BiH. When talking about 160 terrorist attacks in Europe that happened in the last two and a half years, BiH has not been linked to any of them,” Zvizdić stressed.

The issue of the increased influx of migrants was one of the topics in London where Zvizdic pointed out that BiH wants to be part of a single European solution and announced that BiH will not make walls against its neighbors, but also that it will remain humane and respect international standards and domestic laws.

He thanked the EU for the assistance that it has provided to BiH in this regard, but also expressed hope that the Una-Sana Canton will soon find a place for the accommodation of migrants, because the EU has rejected to finances the proposed locations so far, saying that “they are too close to the border with the EU.”

Also, he stressed the need for ending the reconciliation process by closing the door of the past and opening the door to the future, and this can only be achieved, Zvizdić said, through the cooperation of institutions of the states, and not the peoples from different countries.

“There are no people in BiH that have two states. Bosnian Serbs have their one and only country - Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the same applies to Croats, which is why I think institutional cooperation is more important than cooperation among certain peoples,” he underlined.

He also referred to the third meeting of the Stabilization and Association Council held in Brussels last week when they reiterated the need to complete the responses to the additional questions from the Questionnaire as soon as possible and noted that BiH will soon adopt four important strategies for the energy sector, transport, rural development and environmental protection.

He concluded in the end that BiH has not received any additional conditions besides answering these follow-up questions in order to obtain a candidate status, and by the end of the year, he said, he expects the activation of the MAP for NATO membership, which would be a clear signal of the irreversible path of BiH towards achieving its most important foreign policy goals.
