BiH Prosecution files indictment for war crimes in Foča

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 5 (FENA) - The BiH state prosecution has filed an indictment against Slobodan Ćurčić, now residing in Montenegro, charging him with crimes against Bosniaks in the Foca area during the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia.

An indictment filed with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for confirmation alleges that Slobodan Ćurčić, in his capacity as a former member of the Bosnian Serb Army, shot and killed two Bosniak civilians during a Bosnian Serb army attack on the village of Hum in the municipality of Foča in eastern Bosnia in 1992, BIRN reports.

“He has also been charged [also] with having participated, along with other persons, in the rape and sexual abuse of Bosniak women and girls and personally committed rape of one person,” the Bosnian prosecution announced.

The prosecution said it would invite 13 witnesses and expert witnesses and introduce 50 pieces of material evidence in order to prove the allegations contained in the indictment.

Foča saw some of the worst atrocities of the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia after the Bosnian Serb army ethnically cleansed the area of its majority Bosniak population. It was also notorious for its so-called rape camps in which Bosniak women were held, raped and in some cases killed.
