Izet Nizam, Foreigners’ Affairs Service official, arrested on corruption charges

SARAJEVO, September 10 (FENA) - Police officers of the Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), at the order of the prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the BiH Prosecution, in Sarajevo arrested the suspect Izet Nizam, born in 1963 in Bosanska Dubica.

Along with the deprivation of liberty, the suspect’s belongings and his property have been searched, as well as three apartments owned by him or used by his relatives.

The suspect is under investigation and is suspected that, during the period from 2011 to 2015, while acting as Deputy Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs of BiH, he unlawfully took money, goods and services from foreign nationals and persons who were being processed related to the residence permit or other status issues, in order to make decisions in their favor.

After the arrest, the suspect will be brought before the acting prosecutor, who will, after questioning of the suspect, decide on further activities in this case, stated the BiH Prosecutor's Office.
