FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 18 (FENA) - Minister of Finance and Treasury of Bosnia and Herzegovina Vjekoslav Bevanda today met with the newly appointed Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission for BiH, Martin Petri and talked about future cooperation.

The first meeting with Petri was also attended by his predecessor Nadeem Ilahi.

Bevanda thanked Ilahi for good cooperation, honest approach and wished him success in his future work.

Minister Bevanda briefed representatives of the IMF on the activities that are being implemented in the Ministry in order to fulfill the legal obligations and deadlines for adoption of the budget for 2019.

“The Fiscal Council adopted the Global Fiscal Framework, increasing the budget of the BiH institutions by 16 million KM, while the allocation from indirect taxes has remained the same, the Council of Ministers also adopted the Framework Budget Document for the period 2019-2021,” Bevanda said.

He noted that the consultations with budget beneficiaries have been completed at the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH, announcing that they will finish their work on time in the process of adoption of the budget.

Petri and Ilahi rated as positive the fact that the budgetary calendar in the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH is being respected and that this part of the work would be completed regardless of the election activities.

They jointly concluded it is necessary to continue with the implementation of reforms, regardless of the difficulties that the election year poses, and that after forming the government, it is necessary to continue the work with the IMF.

So far, two tranches of about 150 million KM each have been paid to the entity's accounts as part of the extended fund facility between BiH and the IMF, and the value of the loan program is about 1.1 billion KM, stated the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH.
