SARAJEVO, September 23 (FENA) - The Islamic Community in BiH was appalled by the fact that the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, accepted the medal awarded to him by the RS officials which was awarded before him to the convicted war criminals such as Milošević, Karadžić, Mladić and Plavšić, stated the Public Relations Office of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in BiH.
"Citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina expected from the visit of Mr. Lavrov to assure them that the current Russian policies for the Balkans and Bosnia and Herzegovina are not destructive and biased towards one nation or even one political project within that nation.
Unfortunately, that did not happen. On the contrary, after the veto that Russia used in the Security Council that only sought the condemning of the crime of genocide in Srebrenica, this has been yet another humiliation for the victims, which certainly does not contribute to the reconciliation process.
We do not want to believe that this was a conscious decision of M.r Lavrov and the Russian Federation that he finds himself on the same list with the people who have been found guilty of war crimes before the international tribunals and to relativize their crimes in such manner, but the victims have understood this gesture exactly like this and the Islamic Community in BiH considers it a moral obligation to warn about it, it is said in the statement.
