Concession agreement for Banja Luka-Prijedor motorway initialed today

BANJA LUKA, October 4 (FENA) - Concession agreement for Banja Luka-Prijedor motorway construction was initialed today in Banja Luka, which ensures the all the conditions for the Chinese partner to initiate the procedure for paying the concession fee.

After the payment, the agreement on granting the concession will be officially signed, stated the RS Transport and Communications Minister Neđo Trninić after the initialing of the agreement with Shandong Group representative, Yang Sjy.

The Government of RS today awarded the China Shandong International Economic and Technical Cooperation Group Ltd. of Shandong Hi-Speed ​​Group Co. Ltd., a concession for the construction of the Banja Luka - Prijedor motorway section.

The government of the entity also gave its consent to the proposal of the Concession Agreement for the Banja Luka - Prijedor - Novi Grad motorway (the first phase Banja Luka - Prijedor section).

The concession has been granted for a period of 33 years, including the construction period, it was announced after a working-consultative session of the entity government.

The value of the investment (design and construction) is 297 million euros. The final capital cost per kilometer is seven million euros, which according to the RS Government is at the lower threshold of the average volume in comparison with similar projects in Europe.

The concession holder has obliged to pay the concession fee, which consists of a one-off fee - 1.5 percent of the investment value, which amounts to 4.466.600 euros together with annual fees - five percent from the revenues generated by the concession activity, i.e. from the amount of collected toll, in accordance with the Law on Concessions.

The Banja Luka - Prijedor motorway section will be 42 kilometers long, with two traffic lanes per direction, the median strip and emergency stopping lanes.

According to the general project, seven tunnels and 35 bridges are planned to be built on the aforementioned section, with three intersections and an infrastructure for a closed toll collection system with three toll collection stations, as well as a system for traffic safety management and control.
