SARAJEVO, November 12 (FENA) - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Minister of Finance and Treasury Vjekoslav Bevanda said today at a meeting with Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission to BiH, Martin Petri, that it is necessary to continue the initiated economic reforms after the formation of the government.
Bevanda emphasized that the Ministry of Finance and Treasury has completed the work on the Draft Budget of the Institutions of BiH, despite the election year, and will refer it to the BiH Council of Ministers’ procedure.
“The first year after the elections is an opportunity for development of BiH, and this also applies to cooperation with the IMF. This is the best period for making quality reform decisions,” said Bevanda.
Bevanda emphasized at the meeting that the Fiscal Council adopted the Global Fiscal Framework, which increases the budget of the BiH institutions by 16 million KM, but that the allocation from the indirect taxes has remained the same, i.e. 750 million KM.
The interlocutors agreed to continue talks on future cooperation between the institutions of BiH and the IMF after the formation of the government in BiH.
Up to date, within the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) between BiH and the IMF, two tranches of approximately 150 million KM per tranche were paid to the accounts of the entities, and the value of the loan program is about 1.1 billion KM.
The meeting was also attended by the Resident Representative of the IMF in BiH, Francisco Parodi, announced the BiH Ministry of Finance.
