SARAJEVO, November 19 (FENA) - The exhibition "After the Great War - New Europe 1918-1923" opened today at the Children of Sarajevo Square, organized by the EU Info Center, the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity (ENRS) and the Embassy of Poland in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The open air exhibition speaks of the Great War and its consequences. The exhibition is produced by the ENRS in collaboration with historians from more than ten countries. It premiered in Poland in October 2018.

The exhibition contains more than 200 archival and multimedia materials including photographs, maps and films along with individual stories of people who lived at that time.

Director of the European Network Remembrance and Solidarity Rafal Rogulski said that the exhibition's goal was to show World War I events and the first five years after its completion and the consequences it brought.

"Also, we want to show the Europeans what kind of memories exist of the time when the new Europe was built. That is where we actually see the biggest differences between us because these memories are different in all of us. The ENRS is an international organization dealing with various issues of political history and history of politics. We organize various events, not only exhibitions but also various conferences and symposia with the aim of creating a discourse among Europeans about our common past," said Rogulski.

The author of the exhibition, Bartosz Dziewanowski-Stefanczyk, said that "the exhibition deals with facts and different memories of the period between the two wars when a new Europe emerged."

"This exhibition is designed to represent facts and different memories from different parts of Europe. It deals with negative phenomena such as war, destruction, losses, but also positive things such as progress, modernization, architecture, art, women's rights. Also, the exhibition is important because it shows how easily democracies can turn into autocratic or even totalitarian regimes," said Dziewanowski.

Open air exhibition "After the Great War - New Europe 1918-1923" in Sarajevo is open until December 18.
