FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 22(FENA) - Former Bosnian Serb Army soldier Mićo Praštalo, who was standing trial for war crimes in the Ključ area, was found dead in his car in what officials said was a suspected suicide.

The Una-Sana Canton police department spokesperson Snežana Galić told BIRN on Thursday that war crimes defendant Mićo Praštalo died a violent death, and a crime scene inspection has indicated that he probably committed suicide.

Galić said the police received a report on Wednesday that a lifeless body had been found in a car in Lušci Palanka in the Sanski Most municipality.

Praštalo, a former commander of the Sixth Battalion of the Bosnian Serb Army’s Sixth Sanski Brigade, was on trial at the state court in Sarajevo for the persecution of non-Serb population in the Ključ area.

He was charged with ordering and committing murders, as well as knowing about, but failing to prevent murders and detentions.
