SARAJEVO, November 28 (FENA) - The EU Delegation to BiH today in Sarajevo presented a new phase of the 'EU Scheme for Young Professionals in the Western Balkans', a regional EU-funded education and exchange program designed for young civil servants from the Western Balkans.

This year's participants of the program Adis Palo and Kerim Hodžić from the Directorate for European Integration of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Liljana Đurić from the Department for European Integration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republic of Srpska, Nejra Sarić from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH and Tamara Bajkuš from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH.

The "EU Scheme for young professionals in the Western Balkans" was established as a follow-up to the Summit on the Western Balkans held in Paris in 2016. It aims to contribute to the progress of the accession process and deepen regional cooperation in the Western Balkans.

Head of the Section for Political and Economic Affairs of the EU Delegation to BiH, Krassimir Nikolov, explained that a total of 30 officials from the Western Balkan countries will be participating in the program, five of them from BiH.

“This program has been implemented for the past three years and it is important for us to help young civil servants, because in the future they will play a significant role in BiH's progress towards EU membership,” said Nikolov.

Assistant Director of the Directorate for European Integration of the Council of Ministers Maja Rimac-Bjelobrk stated that training in the field of European integration in strong European centers is extremely important for young civil servants because they will be the bearers of the change that the EU integration process imposes.

The participants will be travelling to Paris on 2 December to attend a two-week tailor-made executive training course in public policy management at Science Po University, before moving to the College of Europe, Bruges, in February 2019.

Upon completion of the training programs, civil servants will participate in a regional exchange in March/April 2019 and a Regional Conference in May 2019.

The project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the British Council, stated the EU Delegation to BiH.
