SARAJEVO, December 3 (FENA) - The BiH Council of Ministers has prolonged the decision on determining the date of commencement of operation of the Institute for the Execution of Criminal Sanctions, Detention and Other Measures of BiH (state penitentiary), as well as the decision on termination of the work of the Unit for Implementation of the Project for Construction of the Institute for Execution of Criminal Sanctions, and other measures of BiH, and the Administrative and Supervisory Boards of the Institute for Execution of Criminal Sanctions, Detention and Other Measures of BiH.
After the session, BiH Justice Minister Josip Grubeša told reporters that these items were not considered today, and that "due to some technical shortcomings, making of the decision on this matter has been postponed for the next session".
“I hope that there will be no pushing of the deadline that we have given ourselves for the opening of this institution, the first state prison, on January 1, 2019,” said Grubeša.
"We have had some technical problems and some additional construction works, so we have to see how to deal with all of this, who will do it and to whom authority would be transferred.
We also need to see where the archives that were in the Unit will be relocated to. I hope that there will be no problems and that the penitentiary will start to work as we have scheduled,” Grubeša said.
Minister Grubeša said that the construction of the prison cost a bit less than 40 million euros, with almost 11 million euros being donor funds, and the rest were loans and funds from the budget of BiH.
He added that it is planned that prison has the capacity to take up to 350 detainees and prisoners.
There are ten different facilities in the prison - four facilities are for detention of prisoners and detainees, and the rest are auxiliary facilities.
