BANJA LUKA, February 7 (FENA) - A preliminary hearing was held at the Basic Court in Banja Luka on the lawsuit of Milorad Dodik filed against Croatian journalist Domagoj Margetić.

Margetić said that the lawsuit was about seven years old and was filed for articles published in connection with the so-called Hypo Bank affair, the alleged Dodik's accounts and transactions in that bank at the time he was the president of RS.

He says he came to the trial in Banja Luka, although he is a citizen of another country.

“My coming here in Banja Luka was a way to send a message that we must respect the institutions of neighboring countries. I respect the institutions of BiH, although I have received legal advice not to appear before court in Banja Luka, but I thought it would be unacceptable for me as a journalist,” said Margetić.

Dodik's attorney, lawyer Goran Bubić, confirmed that the claim was reduced from 100,000 KM to 8,000 KM.

Margetić, however, claims that he had a problem finding a lawyer in the entity of RS because he "they are all afraid to take on his case”, and dismissed the claim because he considered it unfounded.
