SARAJEVO, February 7 (FENA) - Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka handed Chair of the BiH Presidency Milorad Dodik and members of the Presidency Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović invitations to the solemn opening ceremony of the European Youth Olympic Festival EYOF 2019.
Skaka emphasized importance of support members of the Presidency have been giving to the event, adding he expects that EYOF 2019 will contribute to strengthening of the state, spreading positive energy and promotion of youth and progress.
"This is important time for BiH and it is extremely important that we have the support of the BiH Presidency," said Mayor of Sarajevo.
EYOF 2019 is the biggest sporting event being held in BiH after the Winter Olympics in 1984.
Young athletes from 46 European countries, over 1500 of them, will compete in eight sports: Alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, figure skating, speed skating, hockey and curling.
It is assessed that over 6.700 persons will be involved in preparation, organization and participation in this festival of sport and youth.
EYOF 2019 is being held under patronage of the BiH Presidency, Sarajevo City Administration stated.
