SARAJEVO, February 20 (FENA) - A delegation of the Special Operations Command from the United States Forces Command for Europe, headed by General Kirk W. Smith, visited today the Ministry of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and met with Defense Minister Marina Pendeš.
Pendeš wished welcome to the delegation of the Special Operations Command to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The two delegations discussed the Annual National Program (ANP) with NATO and internal procedures for the adoption of the first ANP for BiH, for which the US delegation has given its full support.
Participants of the meeting stressed that bilateral defense cooperation between the US and BiH is at extraordinary high level, that it is the most comprehensive, and that it is increasing every year, and therefore the BiH Armed Forces are becoming increasingly interoperable with the US Armed Forces, as well as with NATO.
General Smith praised the high level of professionalism and competences shown by members of the Armed Forces of BiH in participating in international peacekeeping operations, stressing that the United States remains committed to supporting BiH towards the NATO membership, thanking Minister Pendeš for receiving the US delegation and for a very useful meeting.
Pendeš thanked the delegation of the Special Operations Command and the United States on everything they have done in terms of capacity building and operational capabilities of the Armed Forces of BiH, and thus the defense and security system of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a whole, stated the BiH Ministry of Defense.
