SARAJEVO, February 28 (FENA) - Member of the BiH Presidency Šefik Džaferović said that citizens of BiH decided to vote for independence of the state on 1st March 1992 and clearly said "no" to great state projects, rejecting slavery and choosing freedom.

Congratulating citizens the BiH Independence Day, he named the date one of the most important dates in history of the homeland, considering that two thirds of the citizens decided to live in an independent and internationally recognized state of equal citizens in every inch of its territory.

Džaferović said in an interview with FENA that there is no basis to dispute this state holiday, reminding that referendum of BiH was organized in accordance with the Constitution of BiH, in accordance with the law and in compliance with all regulations of the international law.

BiH was recognized by all countries of the world and it became a member of the United Nations in May 1992 and all these facts confirm there is no valid reason to dispute these values, said Džaferović.

"It is a state holiday. There is a Law on Independence Day, and all those who are disputing March 1 today are actually showing disobedience of the law in force," emphasized Džaferović.

He repeated it is not possible to only accept rights of the entities from the Dayton Agreement and dispute the state and its holidays. It can only be treated as a whole.

Džaferović assessed that cooperation between the three members of the BiH Presidency could be on a higher level.

He reminded that during the pre-election campaign, and after it, he said that BiH needs rule of law, acceleration of the Euro-Atlantic path and overall social and economic reform, naming these things basic tasks of the collective head of state.

However, some significant things have been done and Džaferović mentioned the joint statement on the EU commitment which he, Chair Milorad Dodik and Member of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić delivered during their first joint visit to Brussels.

"I expect the upcoming period to be marked by activities that will imply full compliance with the rule of law, Dayton Agreement and all laws and policies that have been adopted," said Member of the BiH Presidency.

Džaferović also commented on formation of the new assembly of Council of Ministers and Government of the Federation of BiH, adding they expect the process to be completed by the end of March, and he would like to see a wide coalition in that sense, because reforms that need to be implemented require a stable parliamentary majority, which is why SDA invited Social Democratic Party (SDP), Democratic Front (DF) and other parties to join.

"Rule of law also includes appointment of the chairman of the Council of Ministers, which is Presidency's commitment. That is not disputable, but it is disputable that political option that nominates the candidate is disputing the NATO path and prevents activation of MAP," emphasized Džaferović.

He underlined that integration in the EU and NATO are the two main foreign policy goals of BiH.

Džaferović also mentioned regional cooperation, adding they wish to build good neighbor relations based on principles of mutual respect, but BiH has never been the problem in that area, problems always came from BiH neighbors.

He added that when it comes to borders, BiH only wants agreements on the existing border, not to demand prior exchange of territories which is against the principles of the international law, adding that issue from the cross-border belt can be solved by interstate agreements later on.

He added that officials of all former Yugoslav republics have been invited to visit BiH, which demonstrates a wish to build neighbor relations on these principles.

Džaferović is optimistic that BiH will be member of the EU and NATO and that it will implement reforms regardless of retrograde forces that are still present in BiH and the only question is how much time will be wasted and how many people will leave BiH during that time.
