KONJIC, March 6 (FENA) - The Federation of BiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić said today, during his visit to Konjic, that the construction of Block 7 of Tuzla TPP is necessary for ensuring the stability of the energy system in FBiH.

He added that it is not possible to rely entirely on renewable energy sources because they are not stable, for example in case of dry periods and not enough rain, winds or sun.

“In every energy system, there must be a stabilizing factor that is either nuclear or coal-based energy. Other countries have already secured the stability of energy supply, and we have to replace these two blocks that have surpassed it use period,” said Novalić.

He pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina already produces 42 percent of electricity from renewable sources, which meets the criteria that the EU has set for its members to reach by 2026.

Novalic believes that it makes no sense to make a problem with the guarantees for the loan that the Government of FBiH has given to Elektroprivreda BiH, because it is a potent company that is able to repay loans.

Asked what would happen if the Parliament does not provide support for the guarantees, Novalić replied that it would mean that in some future period we might import electricity as a stabilizing factor, but that, nevertheless, he believes that the Parliament would not make such a decision.
