SARAJEVO, March 7 (FENA) - The FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalic expressed satisfaction with the fact that today, the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH passed six decisions regarding the construction of Block 7 of the Tuzla Thermal Power Plant.

The construction of replacement thermal blocks will ensure continued coal production and sales and the survival of the mines themselves.

“This is a historical moment for Bosnia and Herzegovina, given the fact that in the last 40 years we have not had an investment of this size in this sector. The other important aspect is energy that is steadily becoming a strategic commodity. The state should have as much of its independence as possible, and we are in a position to have energy independence,” underlined Novalić.

He congratulated the public enterprise ‘Elektroprivreda BiH’, which, as he says, has brought the construction of Block 7 of Tuzla TPP to this stage and the FBiH ministries of finance and energy, mining and industry.

“The investment is worth almost two billion KM and it will go to Tuzla, where we had some tensions in the past period, as there were no significant investments in this region, including the dissatisfaction with Tuzla not being on the route of the motorway on the 5C Corridor. But, by constructing this Block 7 in a way, we are introduce even distribution of investments in the Federation of BiH,” added Novalić.

In order for the construction of Block 7 to begin, it is necessary for the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament to support these two agreements: the Loan Agreement (Cexim and EP BiH) and the FBiH Guarantee Agreement (Cexim and FBiH).

“I expect the approval of these documents in the next 15 days. Construction of Block 7 has no alternative. It is a 450 MW block that replaces blocks 3, 4 and 5 that need to be shut down,” stated FBiH Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Nermin Džindić.
