Lajčák: Two schools under one roof ignominious

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, June 20 (FENA) – Members of the BiH Presidency Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović received today the OSCE Chairman and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovakia Miroslav Lajčak.

Members of the BiH Presidency said that the work of the OSCE is very useful and thanked the OSCE Chairman for his mission’s long-term stay in our country and its assistance which they provided in organizing democratic election processes in BiH.

The OSCE Chairman said that his main focus currently is BiH progress towards the EU accession.

Lajčak especially stressed the issue of separating children based on ethnicity in the so called two-schools-under-one-roof system, saying that such a practice is ignominious.

Members of the BiH Presidency stressed that they were familiar with the requests of pupils and teachers of these schools to end such a discriminatory process and expressed the hope that the OSCE would have a more prominent role in resolving this problem in the future, as well as other issues of segregation and inequality, such as, for example, the use of official languages in BiH.

They also discussed introducing new technical solutions for the upcoming municipal elections, which should reduce electoral fraud.

On behalf of the Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik, his advisor Ana Trišić-Babić attended the meeting, said the BiH Presidency.
