SARAJEVO, June 26 (FENA) - The handover ceremony between the outgoing commander of the EUFOR Major General Martin Dorfer and the acting Major General Reinhard Trischak was held today in Butmir, near Sarajevo.
Dorfer, who has been at the head of the EUFOR mission since March 2018, said at a press conference ahead of the ceremony that in the past 15 months they had made progress in solving the problems of weapons and explosions, demining and registration and marking of weapons. and provided support to law enforcement agencies.
“In my opinion, EU membership and NATO membership should not be linked to one another. It is better to take make a difference between them in order to prevent issues with both,” Dorfer said.
New EUFOR commander, Major General Reinhard Trischak, said that his appointment was a great honor and that he would invest a lot of effort and experience to justify the trust that has been granted to him.
“The mission of EUFOR and my mission during my time as commander is to continue helping all the people of BiH to live together in a stable, viable, peaceful and multiethnic state and contribute to a safe and stable environment through the support of the BiH institutions,” he said.
Major General Trischak has previously held the post of the Director of Military Policy of the Ministry of Defense of Austria.
