FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, July 18 (FENA) - Members of the FBiH Civil Protection Administration (FUCZ) and EUFOR held a helicopter rescue exercise of potential mine or other accident victims.

Training was carried out on Wednesday at Camp Butmir, and the exercise was carried out at Uževice and Sedam Vrela in the Nahorevo area near Sarajevo in the close proximity of the Skakavac waterfall.

The trainers and practitioners of the training were EUFOR, Aeronautical Aviation Department (AVDET) Medical evacuation (Medevac) and FUCZ, with the aim of presenting participants' with opportunities and checking their capabilities and equipment, as well as cooperation and joint action in the field.

The exercise had three scenarios, including rescuing mountaineers from the barricade, evacuating the wreck from an inexhaustible terrain with a winch, bringing the rocket squad to the location, pulling the mine victim and transporting it to the helicopter.

The exercise was used by EUFOR's Agusta Bell 212 helicopter, and training was successfully completed by 12 FUCZ members.

The exercise was focused on the training and harmonization of the FUCZ and the EUFOR Air Force (Austrian Aviation) in EUFOR, so that in the event of any similar mining accident on an inaccessible ground they will be able to respond as soon as possible.
