City of Sarajevo honors Hatidža Mehmedović

SARAJEVO, July 22 (FENA) - On the anniversary of the death of the late Hatidža Mehmedović, president of the Association of “Mothers of Srebrenica”, Deputy Chairman of the City Council Edina Gabela today, on behalf of the City of Sarajevo, honored and placed flowers on the memorial plaque in Terzibašina Street in memory of this heroine of BH.

At the suggestion of Mayor Abdulah Skake, the City Council decided that the fountain in the Terzibašina Street near the mosque should bear the name Hatidža Mehmedović.

The late Hatidža Mehmedović had all male members of the family killed in the genocide in Srebrenica. This strong and brave woman was fighting to get the truth out and was fighting for justice every day to preserve the memory of genocide and punish the perpetrators.

It is up to us all to preserve the memory of this great fighter and everything she has done right up until the last day of her life, he said.
