MOSTAR, July 25 (FENA) - The conference "Connecto-business cooperation with the Diaspora", which was held on Thursday at the Intera Technology Park in Mostar, was marked by inspirational stories, exchange of ideas and information, sharing of experiences, and establishing business contacts.
The goal of the conference was to connect entrepreneurs from the BiH diaspora and local businesses to help them identify new business opportunities and valuable partnerships.
"We decided to organize this conference in order to present the potential that lies in the cooperation between the numerous BiH diaspora and local businesses. Some 160 registered companies and individuals are sufficient indicators of interest in improving the local economy by using the knowledge and resources of our diaspora," said CEO of Intera TP Vedran Šimunović.
Head of the GIZ project "Innovation and Digitization in Small and Medium Enterprises in BiH" Karin Rau said that business cooperation with the diaspora is a very important factor for BiH's economic development.
"GIZ is currently implementing a project on innovation and digitization in small and medium-sized enterprises, in which we are trying to support BiH companies to keep up with the trends of developed markets and take advantage of different digital tools to operate more efficiently. Such events give companies an opportunity to get to know the different possibilities that they can apply themselves," Rau pointed out.
The conference was marked by two panels which have gathered local entrepreneurs who had previously acquired their experience abroad, and now they implement it in managing their own companies in BiH, as well as those who, in their organizations, daily improve the possibilities of cooperation with the diaspora through different sectors.
The conference was closed by the US Ambassador to BiH Eric Nelson, who commented on the region's great economic potential, which he said lies in agricultural production, great talents in the information technologies, industry and tourism.
Special emphasis was put on potential investments and numerous BiH diaspora which is a positive example of how acquired knowledge and experience abroad can be applied in BiH, and such examples, he says, are presented at the "Connecto" conference.
"Nearly two million Bosnians and Herzegovinians live and work successfully in the diaspora. They are an outstanding example of how people from Bosnia and Herzegovina live in societies where there is an adequate rule of law and how they can capitalize on their potential.
For this reason, the US Embassy is interested in helping everyone from the diaspora who want to return home, who want to succeed and by doing so, also help their country. You are all a wonderful example of how to succeed, "Ambassador Nelson said.
After completing the conference part of the program, the participants had the opportunity to participate in B2B meetings that enabled them to make valuable contacts with potential partners, associates, and investors.
The conference is part of a unique event organized by the Intera TP in partnership with the BH Futures Foundation, with the financial support of the sponsors, UniCredit Bank, GIZ, USAID, through the Diaspora Invest project, the FBiH Chamber of Commerce and others, stated the Intera TP.
