Jahorina OC implementing seven infrastructure projects

FENA Press release

JAHORINA, August 1 (FENA) – The Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Jahorina Olympic Center Nedeljko Elek and a member of the Board Ljubomir Mrda visited seven significant infrastructure projects on the Olympic mountain Jahorina today.

The largest and the most significant project at the moment is the construction of the first mountain gondola, which will increase the capacity of the ski resort by 2,700 skiers per hour, the only one that will be in operation in case of strong winds and when the six-seaters are out of function.

“The location of the gondola will ensure the continued operation of the ski resort and the connection of the ski slopes Poljice and Skočine. In addition to the gondola, we are also constructing 3,000 m of new trails that will have enough snow and be protected against wind gusts. This is a big project and I am really pleased with the progress,” said Elek.

At the same time, we are working on the replacement of the old ski lift Poljice with a new T-bar lift, which will increase skiers' transport capacity from 300 to 1,200 per hour, but we are also purchasing snow grooming vehicles.

“We are doing the reconstruction of the gates and ski pass desks for the coming winter season, and we are introducing Webshop and OPOS sales, which will reduce queues and waiting time for the lifts and ski slopes,” stated the Jahorina Olympic Center.
