SDA: Wealthy politicians like Dodik do not have right to stop pay increase

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, August 1 (FENA) - The Party of Democratic Action welcomes the adoption of the budget of the institutions of BiH at the session of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and calls on the SNSD to finally end the parliamentary blockade in order for the budget to be adopted at that institution and to become operational.

The SDA points out that the demands of the Union of Police Officers for budget adoption, which foresees a salary increase for thousands of members of state-level police agencies (SIPA, Border Police and Directorate for Police Coordination), are quite understandable.

The SDA finds it inadmissible that by blocking the adoption of the budget, the SNSD takes away the legal right of state police officers, who have been waiting for the promised pay increase for 10 years.

They also find it unacceptable that SNSD parliamentarians receive many times the salary of police officers, even though they do not attend sessions, while blocking them from raising the salaries of those who do extremely demanding work while protecting the security of citizens, including those of MPs.

“If Milorad Dodik and the SNSD decide to stop adopting the budget, they will confirm that they are a group of wealthy politicians who have no heart for the rights of ordinary people, and that they are ready to bring the country into crisis for the sake of their party interests, and prevent living standards from rising across BiH,” said the SDA's Public Relations Office.
