SARAJEVO, August 8 (FENA) - Tuzla Canton Prime Minister Denijal Tulumović received today in his first protocol visit the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to BiH Matthew Field in order to discuss the social, health and economic situation in the Tuzla Canton.
Despite the wide range of ambassador Field's interest in the situation in the Tuzla Canton, the problem in focus was the departure of more and more young people from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the cantonal government said.
Prime Minister Tulumović stressed that the issue of stopping the departure of young people from the Tuzla Canton, but also from Bosnia and Herzegovina, would be among the three priority points of work of the Cantonal Government.
“This is a problem that I see as one of the biggest issues in the area. It is related not only to the economic situation but also to the dissatisfaction of young people in political, economic and any other sense,” said Tulumović.
According to Ambassador Field, the British Embassy has doubled its assistance to BiH this year, and the situation regarding the departure of young people from BiH is alarming. He expressed his desire to work together to resolve this issue.
“Meeting with the Prime Minister is an opportunity to get acquainted with the priorities and challenges in the work of the Tuzla Canton Government. The British Embassy is a partner at all levels of government working to reform and improve the lives of citizens. As in other parts of the country, TC is concerned about young people leaving. Creating opportunities and conditions to stay is a common priority,” Field said.
Some of the areas in which the United Kingdom's Embassy strives to assist BiH are creating better public services, for which several projects have already been implemented in the Tuzla Canton.
Ambassador Field also met with Tuzla Mayor Jasmin Imamović in Tuzla to discuss, among other things, the relationship of higher levels of government with local governments.
