SDA Main Board conclusions: Politics of Milorad Dodik and SNSD utterly harmful

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 6 (FENA) - The Main Board of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) has given its full support to the party president Bakir Izetbegović in the talks on the formation of the BiH Council of Ministers, it was concluded at a session held today in Sarajevo.

According to a statement after the session, the Main Board considers the policy implemented by Milorad Dodik and the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD) detrimental to the state and all its peoples and citizens.

“Dodik has been insulting and belittling the state and its institutions almost on a daily basis since 2006, talking about BiH as an impossible and unsustainable state, without hesitation talking about the division of the country, erasing the border on the Drina River, drawing of new borders in the Balkans. At the same time, he has also offended the Bosniaks on countless occasions with his chauvinistic statements that he "will not be judged by Muslims", calling Bosniak returnees "occupiers of Podrinje", calling the Muslim prayer "horrible screaming", attacks on their identity, denial of the right to the Bosnian language, denial of the genocide in Srebrenica, trying to change the character of the past war, awarding of war criminals, etc. Since 2006, he has threatened with referendums on almost 50 various occasions.

Causing the crisis over the establishment of power and Dodik's attempt to impose the will of the entity on the state in the areas for which the state is exclusively responsible and thus stop the NATO path of BiH, are only the culmination of such a policy,” it is emphasized in the conclusions of the SDA Main Board.

As further stated, the SDA Main Board recognizes that the ultimate goal of this policy and its mentors is to stop BiH's path towards NATO and the European Union by violating and disrespecting the laws and decisions, and the consensus reached by all parties on the previously established foreign policy commitment. The goal is to completely block and put to ridicule all the state institutions in order to completely dismantle the state. Such a destructive policy is a threat to stability and peace in BiH and the entire region.

The SDA Main Board calls on the SNSD to finally stop the policy of destabilizing the state because it can do no good to anyone, and especially not to the Serb people and the RS entity, on whose behalf it is allegedly pursuing such a policy.

The SDA also called on the SNSD to fully respect the Constitution and the laws of BiH and to abide by the Principles for Government Formation signed by SDA, SNSD and HDZ BiH leaders Bakir Izetbegović, Milorad Dodik and Dragan Čović.

The SDA Main Board believes that the sole and exclusive culprit for the crisis over the formation of power is Milorad Dodik and his insisting not to comply with the laws defining BiH’s NATO path, and recalls that Article 3 of the signed Principles which imply "enhancement of relations with NATO, in line with all the relevant decisions which entails the drafting of the state-level plans for cooperation with NATO."

The SDA will not abandon its principles, which is the functioning of the state in accordance with the Constitution and the rule of law, and will not allow the entity to impose itself on the state in the matters where the state has exclusive jurisdiction, concluded today the SDA Main Board.

The SDA calls on all the interlocutors to continue talks on government formation and to reach a consensus that will allow the submission of the Annual National Program (ANP) and the appointment of the BiH Council of Ministers. If everyone obeys the signed agreement, obeys the Constitution and the laws, power at all levels can be established in the shortest possible term.

The SDA urges the HDZ BiH to end its two-faced policy, which at the same time supposedly supports the NATO path, but also they are gladly abandoning the decision to send the Annual National Program to NATO headquarters.

It calls on the HDZ BiH to nominate a candidate for the position of President of the Federation of BiH in order to finally initiate the procedures for the appointment of a new convocation of the FBiH Government.

The SDA Main Board condemns the claims of the HDZ leaders, first of all Dragan Čović and Božo Ljubić, that "the creation of Herzeg-Bosna enabled the creation of Bosnia and Herzegovina" and that this para-statelet could be "a roadmap for constitutional solutions in BiH".

“These claims clearly and unambiguously reveal that the goal of the HDZ is the ethnic segregation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This goal is only being masked with the stories of the alleged inequality and false self-representation of them as "the proponents of European values".

There are no "European values", nor they can ever be in the formation of para-statelets, in the advocacy of ethnic divisions and segregation, or the celebration of the atrocities and war criminals that were at the helm of the so-called Herzeg-Bosna, and have been tried before the Hague Tribunal for a joint criminal enterprise in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the SDA Main Board underlined.

The SDA Main Board calls on the OHR, the Dayton Peace Accord countries signatories, the PIC member states and all other relevant stakeholders in the international community to take a more decisive stance against destructive policies that could lead BiH into a deep crisis, produce instability and ultimately threaten peace in BiH, but also the entire region. By expressing mere concern and with lukewarm reactions they only further encourage the leaders of such destructive policies.

As Milorad Dodik announces the deepening of the crisis through the work of the RS National Assembly, the SDA expects that the determination to preserve the Dayton Peace Agreement be shown immediately and thus stop further destabilization of the situation in BiH, the SDA Main Board concluded.
