NOVI GRAD, September 17 (FENA) - BiH Foreign Minister Igor Crnadak believes BiH has strong arguments against Croatia's intention to dispose of radioactive nuclear waste at the location of Trgovska gora, right on the border with BiH, near the municipality of Novi Grad / Bosanski Novi.
The Minister will talk about this problem at the 53rd General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, in order to point to the problem of the intention of the Republic of Croatia to dispose of its nuclear waste from the Krško Nuclear Power Plant at the very border with BiH.
After meeting with the Mayor of Novi Grad / Bosanski Novi Miroslav Drljača, Crnadak said that all levels of government are involved in this "fight".
“We have strong arguments supported by many institutions in the RS, the Federation of BiH and at the BiH level. I expect everything to end well,” he said.
Mayor Drljača believes that, as he stated, that this is a good moment to oppose Croatia's intention to dispose radioactive waste in the Čerkezovac barracks.
He recalled that there is cooperation between local communities from both BiH entities, as well as with the municipalities of Dvor and Petrinja in Croatia.
"It is important that we use all available mechanisms to prevent Trgovska gora from becoming nuclear landfill," Drljača said.
Unless Croatia abandons its intention, Mayor Drljača considers that a legal or international arbitration proceeding should be initiated to protect BiH citizens.
He recalled that a protest rally will be held in Novi Grad / Bosanski Novi on September 27 in the Una River Basin.
