Dalipagć-Khoshmukhamedov: Collaboration to protect all road users

SARAJEVO, September 23 (FENA) - BiH Deputy Minister of Communications and Transport Saša Dalipagić and Deputy Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in BiH Sukhrob Khoshmukhamedov signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Deputy Dalipagić emphasized that this Memorandum is of utmost importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

UNDP will assist Bosnia and Herzegovina in technical expertise and knowledge in developing a framework strategy of transport security and action plan for the period 2020 to 2024, and in line with the global Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 11. Part of that strategy will be drafted security strategies of traffic on the roads in Republika Srpska, the Federation of BiH and the Brčko District of BiH.

“Nearly 280 lives have been lost in road accidents in BiH over the past year. Today, we are starting cooperation to protect the lives of children and all road users,” said Khoshmukhamedov, stressing that UNDP will support the organization and preparation of a high-level donor conference in order to raise funds for the implementation of certain projects under the strategy.

Deputy Dalipagić emphasized the importance of this for Bosnia and Herzegovina, adding that we are all witnessing road events across the country, and unfortunately we have great number of  traffic accidents in terms of population and number of vehicles.

Dalipagić thanked UNDP for recognizing Bosnia and Herzegovina's traffic safety issues and actively involved in helping to develop a strategy to help BiH in addressing these issues systematically, with a view to reducing road accidents and protecting people and property in traffic, stated the BiH Ministry of Communications and Transport.
