Chairman Komšić met with Solberg and Lajčak in New York

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, September 26 (FENA) - BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić met with Erna Solberg, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Norway, and Miroslav Lajčak, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic in New York in separate meetings.

The interlocutors discussed the current political situation, assessing bilateral cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Kingdom of Norway as good. The friendship between the two countries was also highlighted, given the fact that about twenty thousand people, originally from BiH, live in Norway and are well integrated into Norwegian society.

Chairman Komšić informed Prime Minister Solberg about current developments in BiH. Speaking about current events, Chairman Komšić said that there were problems with the Election Law in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also with the election process in our country. He emphasized that this internal issue of Bosnia and Herzegovina should be resolved through positive dialogue and agreement.

“Talking about the long-standing cooperation between BiH and the Kingdom of Norway, a positive economic result was noted in foreign trade. Unfortunately, the growth of the economy does not fully resolve the issue of political stability in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Chairman Komšić. The only solution to the current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina is to become a member of NATO and the European Union, as well as to all countries in the region that have not yet.

Prime Minister Solberg said regional stability was crucial for the entire region, and agreed that it was important for all countries in the region to be members of NATO and the European Union. Prime Minister Solberg also stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina will have the support of the Kingdom of Norway on its Euro-Atlantic path.

BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić also met with Miroslav Lajčak, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic, on the sidelines of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The interlocutors discussed bilateral relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Slovak Republic, assessing them as good. They exchanged views on the current situation in the European Union in light of developments around Brexit. They discussed the attitude of the new EU administration towards enlargement to the Western Balkans, and in this regard, the attitude towards Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the next steps that our country should take in the near future, the BiH Presidency said.
