SARAJEVO, October 17 (FENA) - Ambassador of the Republic of France to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Guillaume Rousson paid a visit to the Federal News Agency (FENA) today, where he met with the General Manager of the Agency, Elmir Huremović and talked about the activities and operations of the Agency and prospects for enhancement of a very good cooperation that has existed so far.

Ambassador Rousson said during today’s visit that quality cooperation has existed for many years between the Embassy and FENA.

"I start my day by reading FENA's news because I really find essential information in them, and that's what matters to diplomats in this country," said Ambassador Rousson.

He thanked Huremović for FENA’s professional follow-up and reporting of the activities of the French Embassy in BiH.

“You really are the right kind of partner and we appreciate it. This was an opportunity to thank you. FENA has really been our most faithful interlocutor all these years. We have extremely professional relations,” said the French Ambassador.

Rousson also noted that it is important to have contacts with those who process information at their source, which are the news agencies themselves.

"That is why I'm here today and that is why I have met with FENA’s management and the staff,” said Rousson.

He also announced future cooperation on specific projects of mutual interest.

“We are exchanging ideas for now, but I think it would be good if we could improve our cooperation. The Embassy and the Agency representatives will meet in the coming days and try to see how this cooperation could further develop,” Ambassador Rousson concluded.

General Manager of the Federal News Agency Elmir Huremović said that FENA has had long-standing cooperation with the French Embassy  and that this is just another contribution to the deepening of that cooperation.

“I believe, and this was confirmed in our conversation with the Ambassador, that there are many concrete projects that we can work on together,” said Huremović.

He pointed out that FENA, as a public media service, is well aware of its role in informing the public in BiH and worldwide in an objective manner, as well as its role in connecting our country with other friendly countries, and France is certainly one of them.

“We are grateful to the Ambassador for his visit and for recognizing FENA as an indispensable factor on the BiH media scene, but also in Bosnian society in general,” said Huremović.

During the meeting with Ambassador Rousson, he stated that, based on all relevant indicators, FENA has been and still is by far the most quoted media source in BiH.

Huremović emphasized that FENA's participation in the international media scene is particularly important in terms of cooperation with news agencies of other countries.

Among other things, he informed Ambassador Rousson that FENA is a member of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), which brings together leading news outlets from most European countries.

Ambassador Rousson, accompanied by Director Huremović, also visited FENA's editorial office, where Editor-in-Chief Dejan Jazvić also informed him about the Agency’s day-to-day activities.
