Milan Trišić, suspected of war crime in Bratunac, arrested after extradition

SARAJEVO, October 24 (FENA) - Milan Trišić (1963), suspected of committing crimes against humanity in the Bratunac area in 1992, was arrested upon an order of a prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes after being deported from the United States to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The suspect is under investigation by the Special Department for War Crimes, and he is suspected of committing crimes against humanity against Bosniak victims in 1992, as a member of the Army of Republika Srpska (RS) in the Bratunac area, related to persecution in connection with the crimes of murder, forced disappearance, illegal confinement, torture and abuse, as well as the forcible transfer of a number of victims.

In the course of the investigation, the prosecution found out that the suspect was living in the United States, after which cooperation with partner institutions in that country was established.

Following the arrest, the suspect will be handed over to the acting prosecutor, who will question the suspect and then decide on further action in this case, the BiH Prosecutor's Office said.
