SARAJEVO, October 29 (FENA) - BiH Minister of Security, Dragan Mektić, reiterated today that the approval of lower levels of government is needed to build a reception center to accommodate migrants because military property has been allocated to entities, cantons and municipal authorities.

He added that such property is not state-owned, and lower levels of government do not want to give those facilities to the state for use.

"Negotiations on several new sites are underway," Mektić said, although he did not want to say exactly which locations, explaining that building of a reception center would allow the closure of Vučjak, which was made without a permit and currently accommodates between 800 and 1000 people.

He reiterated that the European Commission refused to finance building of a reception center on private property, because when migrants are no longer there all of the invested funds remain privately owned, and between 1.5 and 2 million euros are needed to build the camp.

Mektić said that the owner of Hotel Sedra which accommodates migrants gets a large amount of money for rent and he also owns the facility in Medeno Polje, which was proposed by the Una-Sana Canton Government as an alternative location.

Minister Mektić also talked about the issue of the arrival of BiH nationals from Syria, recalling that this return process was halted due to the start of Turkey's Operation Source of Peace. According to Minister 270.000 people were accommodated in three camps, 100 men and 160 women and children from BiH.

He confirmed that there was a list of persons confirmed to be BiH citizens and requested that they be extradited to BiH first, followed by persons for whom international warrants were issued and there were nine.

However, everything was postponed due to the operation in Syria.
