SARAJEVO, October 30 (FENA) - Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH Gordana Tadić and Chief Prosecutor of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT), Serge Brammertz attended a meeting of the Operational Working Group on search for missing persons and discussed the exchange of information and search for posthumous remains of missing persons.
The Operational Working Group was formed as a joint initiative of the IRMCT, the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to share information on possible locations of mass graves or missing persons.
Based on the recommendations of the Operational Working Group, a body has been formed to coordinate activities in the work of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, IRMCT, State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), Missing Persons Institute (INO) of BiH, ICRC, ICMP and other institutions.
The body was formed to collect and verify information on possible locations of mass graves, analyze the available evidence bases and archives to collect data and information that could provide guidance for finding mass graves and missing persons.
Prosecutor's Office of BiH states that witnesses are heard on a daily basis within the Operation Terra, an analysis of available evidence is made, and investigators do their best to verify information and locate mass and individual graves.
Working together has already resulted in finding mass graves and posthumous remains at Lokvice-Igman, Hozić Kamen (B.Novi-N.Grad), Vlasenica, Miljevina, Prosar, B.Gradiško and other locations, with colleagues from IRMCT contributing to these activities.
The Prosecutor's Office of BiH is responsible for exhumation, and the Operational Working Group on search for missing persons is significantly helping to collect information used to locate mass and individual graves, Prosecutor's Office of BiH stated.
