Komšić:Serbia cannot protect criminals and arrest on basis of criminal complaint

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, November 26 (FENA) - The charges against BiH citizen Osman Osmanović, member of Croat Defense Council (HVO), are highly debatable. The question is on what basis the police of the Republic of Serbia arrested Osmanović, because a criminal complaint cannot be a basis for arrest or detention in any judicial system in the world, announced the Office of BiH Presidency Chairman Željko Komšić.

According to the statement, we do not have any information that an indictment has been filed or confirmed against the said person, or that an international warrant has been issued against him.

“I consider that this is an arbitrary act of repressive authorities of the Republic of Serbia. Immediately upon my return from a working visit to the US, I will initiate the necessary steps with the relevant institutions of the Republic of Serbia in order to resolve such and all similar treatment of our citizens. Moreover, because our citizens are arrested and charged without indictments and revealed evidence, and fugitives like Novak Djukić are being protected from the BiH judiciary, against which there are judgments,” Komšić said in a statement.

This asymmetry in the treatment of the accused and the suspects is another contribution to the fact that they try to equalize the criminals and the victims.

“I think that we must discuss and act on such actions in order to strengthen regional stability,” it is stated from Komšić's Office.
