SARAJEVO, November 26 (FENA) - When it comes to Bosnia and Herzegovina, 49 percent of citizens support joining the European Union, according to a study presented today at the EU Delegation in Sarajevo.
Research and social studies expert Marchella Abrasheva explained that the survey was conducted throughout 2018 and 2019 across BiH, in both entities.
“The analysis 'Public Opinion in the Western Balkans Countries: Attitudes towards the EU and Bulgaria's Role in Supporting the EU Accession Process' showed that in all Western Balkan countries there is an increase of 58 percent in citizens' support for EU accession,” said Abrasheva.
She added that people in these countries hope that EU membership is possible in five to 10 years, and there was an increase in support for EU membership in the 28 current member states.
Bulgarian Ambassador to BiH Augustine Tzvetkova Karabasheva said the most important thing was that the survey showed that citizens in both BiH entities have the same positive attitude towards the European Union.
“Bulgaria continues to support the Western Balkan countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the process of European integration,” stressed Tzvetkova Karabasheva.
