SARAJEVO, November 29 (FENA) – Member of the BiH Presidency and Party of Democratic Action (SDA) Vice-President Šefik Džaferović said today, after the visit of Croatian President and a candidate for new presidential term Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, that he would rather not comment on her statements because it was all part of her election campaign in neighboring Croatia.

"She probably expects our reactions and thus wants to get some cheap political points. However, one thing was said that hurt me as a man. Grabar-Kitarović, in her statement, accused one whole nation in BiH of wanting to appropriate Bosnia and Herzegovina exclusively for itself. This is not what serious politicians do. Serious politicians do not insult peoples. They should not offend anyone, especially people," Džaferović said.

He added that the people Grabar-Kitarović mentioned had experienced genocide in this country and survived mass crimes.

"The people that have been expelled from huge part of the territory of BiH and the people who fight for a complete and democratic BiH, a state in which all peoples and citizens will be equal in every part of the country. The retrograde forces, to which Grabar-Kitarović apparently belongs, are in favor of something else, territorial or ethnic divisions. There are no territorial or ethnic divisions in BiH," Džaferović said.

He also said that the Election Law should be changed, but that the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights must be respected, which should ensure equality for every citizen, because today those who do not belong to any of the constituent peoples are disenfranchised within BiH.

"That should be the way and we will follow European standards," Džaferović said.

He stressed that Grabar-Kitarović will not be asked about interior issues in BiH.

"We will create our destiny the way we think we should. When I say "we", I mean all peoples, all citizens and all political options that exist within BiH," Džaferović emphasized.

He added that elections in the Republic of Croatia would also take place and that we should always think wisely. There will come a time when open issues will have to be resolved, and they exist between Croatia and BiH.

"Croatia and BiH are two countries that are mutually directed towards each other and we need to develop good neighborly, friendly relations and to resolve outstanding issues. If we can solve them by agreement, we will solve them well. If not, then we should include the standards of international law and thus resolve relations between our countries," said BiH Presidency member.
