SARAJEVO, December 2 (FENA) - Ambassador of the Russian Federation to BiH, Petr Ivantsov said today that energy is an important part of the bilateral relations between the two countries, as evidenced by the agenda of the first meeting between BiH and Russia organized in the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH.
He added that apart from gas supply, cooperation in the field of modernization of thermal and hydro power plants, development of renewable energy sources, modernization of mines and other issues of mutual interest would be discussed.
“I believe that such a working group meeting is in accordance with our common interests, I thank all the participants who have put effort into its formation and I wish everyone a lot of success in their work,” said Ivantsov.
Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović, said that there would be talks on seeking new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector, and on the fulfilment of Bosnia and Herzegovina's obligations to Russia for the gas delivered in 1992-1995.
“I also expect to discuss the decision on the quality of liquid petroleum fuels, gasification, cooperation in the field of new technologies in coal mining, and on the reconstruction and procurement of equipment for the existing thermal power plants in BiH,” Šarović said.
