Indictment filed against Former Security Minister Mektić for abuse of office

SARAJEVO, December 30 (FENA) - The Prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH has filed an indictment against Dragan Mektić, as the BiH Minister of Security, Igor Golijanin, as Head of the Cabinet of the Minister in the Ministry of Security of BiH, Samir Agić, as Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Security of BiH and Edin Garaplija, as the responsible person and owner of the Institute for Fire and Explosion Protection INZA Sarajevo.

The State Prosecution has filed charges against former Security Minister Dragan Mektić, and three other Ministry employees for abuse of office and high-level corruption, the Prosecution said on Monday.

After conducting an investigation, the Prosecution said they filed charges against Dragan Mektić, Igor Golijanin, Samir Agić and Edina Garaplija for complicity in the crime of abuse of office which led to high-level corruption, damaging BiH's international reputation.

The Prosecutor’s Office noted they have evidence that the four suspects abused their position when implementing the cross-border cooperation agreement in the field of firefighting.

They claim that the suspects gained illegal material gain in the amount of 244.764, 21 KM by violating the procurement procedure.

The Prosecution plans to prove the allegations of the indictment by calling 31 witnesses and attaching 140 pieces of material evidence, the BiH Prosecutor's Office said.
