BANJA LUKA, January 9 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik said today in Banja Luka that “Republika Srpska (RS) is stable, peaceful, committed to the development and freedom of all peoples living in it.”

He said that this BiH entity is "celebrating its day today," even though the Constitutional Court of BiH declared January 9 unconstitutional.

Dodik reiterated that they “plan to celebrate the date regardless of the fact that it is disputed by Bosniaks and Croats.”

“There is no freedom for the Serb people unless they have their own state. That is why Serbs today have two states – Republika Srpska and Serbia ... Serbs have never fought for their freedom alone, but they have always given it to others ... Even today, RS is free for other peoples who live in it. Bosniaks and Croats freely exercise their identity, religion and all their rights, participate together with us in political life, they are part of our institutions, the government and the National Assembly...,” Dodik said, among other things, in addressing the participants of the ceremonial parade held today in downtown Banja Luka.

The entity president Željka Cvijanović said that they “celebrate this day under the slogan ‘RS Forever’ and that the RS must be strong and stable, regardless of all the negation.”

Of the approximately 2,400 participants of the parade, 600 were members of the RS MoI, from the Special Anti-Terrorism Unit, Gendarmerie, the Police Special Forces and cadets of the Police Academy.

Apart from the official of the entity, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, and representatives of the Serbian Armed Forces were also present at the parade.

The parade march featured specialized motorcycles and five RS police combat vehicles, an off-road vehicle ‘Despot’. The anthems of RS and Serbia were also performed at the parade.

Last year, declaring it unconstitutional, the BiH Constitutional Court ruled that the date could not be marked as the "Day of RS", but the Serb officials in RS reject the decision.
