Podžić and Hartmann discuss cooperation between BiH and Austria

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, January 28 (FENA) - Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sifet Podžić today received Ambassador of the Republic of Austria to BiH Ulrike Hartmann in an official visit.

The two officials discussed bilateral cooperation between the two ministries of defense.

Podžić thanked Hartmann for significant involvement of the Austrian government in various assistance projects to the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Both sides expressed satisfaction that the bilateral cooperation plan for this year had already been signed and would include 41 joint activities, of which 19 in Bosnia and Herzegovina and 22 in Austria.

In the past few years, bilateral cooperation has been particularly intensified through training of cadets from BiH at the Austrian Theresian Military Academy, the exchange of instructors, and the participation of BiH AF members in professional seminars and courses in Austria. The interlocutors expressed confidence that BiH and the Republic of Austria will continue to successfully develop their military-diplomatic relations, both through direct cooperation and through the activities of the Austrian EUFOR contingent in BiH, the BiH Ministry of Defense stated.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Minister of Defense of BiH for International Cooperation Zoran Šajinović and Military Envoy of the Republic of Austria to BiH Brigadier Erich Simbürger.
