Business, public procurement and consumer protection laws crucial for EU market

FENA Press release

BANJA LUKA, February 4 (FENA) - The European Union is a union of legislation and law, and the harmonization of laws is crucial for future integration into this community of countries, said Krassimir Nikolov, Head of the Section for European Integration, Political and Economic Affairs at the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The substantive law, he explained, is crucial to enable Bosnia and Herzegovina to later participate in the European market.

He clarified that this applies to company laws, public procurement and consumer protection laws.

Ahead of the Banja Luka conference on "EU Acquis 2020", organized by the Faculty of Law, he recalled that the accession process is long and legislation is changing in the meantime.

Minister for European Integration and International Cooperation of RS Zlatan Klokić added that the RS government is adopting the 11th annual plan for harmonizing domestic legislation.

“So far, about 3,000 laws and by-laws have been passed. We have a huge job ahead of us, but this job does not stop with EU membership itself, but it continues because the EU legislation is being updated constantly,” said Klokić.
